McGregor Demands Holloway Trilogy After UFC 329 Injury

Conor McGregor continues to push for a trilogy with Max Holloway and maintains his opponent wanted no part of the action at UFC 329.

McGregor's July return ended when he suffered ACL and meniscus tears against Holloway, with the bout stopped just past the one-minute mark. Holloway noticed the injury early and alerted referee Mike Beltran, prompting the stoppage. During a BKFC Glasgow press conference, McGregor told reporters he still wants the rematch and accused Holloway of avoiding engagement.

McGregor On Holloway's Reluctance To Exchange

The former two-division champion criticized Holloway for pointing out the injury and claimed his former foe refused to strike even before the damage became obvious. "On the one leg, he wasn't coming near me," McGregor said, per MMA Fighting. He added that Holloway called for the stoppage himself rather than continuing to fight.

McGregor indicated he would wait for Holloway if necessary but would not accept low-level opponents while recovering. He dismissed the idea of facing unknown challengers seeking callouts during his layoff.

Holloway has not been scheduled for another bout since the abbreviated rematch. Whether the former featherweight champion competes again before McGregor receives medical clearance remains uncertain.
