Max Holloway knocks out Conor McGregor in UFC 6 trailer
Max Holloway landed a knockout over Conor McGregor on Friday, but only in the world of pixels and polygons.
The UFC 6 video game reveal trailer dropped with Holloway — one of two cover athletes alongside Alex Pereira — opening the clip by starching McGregor with a highlight-reel finish, as first reported by MMA Fighting. The game hits shelves June 19, with early access available June 12 for Ultimate Edition pre-orders.
Holloway wants real rematch after video game revenge
The virtual knockout comes as Holloway has floated a genuine rematch with McGregor, who beat him in their only meeting back in 2013 when both were rising featherweights. According to MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin, Holloway told Paramount he would “love to get one back” on McGregor, who is targeting a return at UFC 329 on July 11 after five years away following a broken leg in the Dustin Poirier trilogy. “I’ve got to get my get backs on one of the guys,” Holloway said. “If I can keep knocking down the list, that would be great.”
Holloway acknowledged he has not received a formal contract from the UFC for the International Fight Week card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but he is clearly interested. The former featherweight champion is coming off a lopsided decision loss to Charles Oliveira that cost him the BMF title and is eager to reset. McGregor, per Holloway’s assessment, “looks hungrier” and recently completed a boxing exhibition.
The UFC 6 trailer also features Ilia Topuria, Georges St-Pierre, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, plus legends Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture. Couture returns to the franchise for the first time in years as part of a UFC Legends package that includes Ken Shamrock. The weigh-in for UFC 329 is scheduled for July 10.
