Mauricio Ruffy stopped Michael Chandler in the first round of their lightweight bout at UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn Sunday night.

Chandler pressed early and hunted for a double leg, per MMA Mania's report, but the Brazilian kept him at the end of a long jab. When Chandler closed the distance and landed a right hand, Ruffy walked through it. As Chandler's back touched the fence, Ruffy cracked him with a right hand and then a spinning kick. An uppercut sent Chandler stumbling, and a liver shot had him sprinting around the cage trying to buy space.

Another spinning kick floored Chandler. When he tried to stand, Ruffy pummeled him with punches until Chandler hit the canvas again, stunned and eating shots. The referee stepped in moments later.

"Chandler is past his best at 40 years of age, whereas Ruffy is one of the most precise and violent strikers in the sport," MMA Mania's Andrew Richardson wrote. Ruffy landed a half-dozen different shots before forcing the finish, dropping Chandler multiple times in what Richardson described as a scheduled execution.

The stoppage came in the first round. Ruffy, one of the division's most accurate power punchers, improved his record while Chandler absorbed his second straight knockout loss.
