Malignaggi Blasts White Netflix Doc As 'Bulls—t Artist Story'

Former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi does not expect the upcoming Netflix documentary on Dana White to deliver honest answers about the UFC president's past.

Malignaggi, who has clashed with MMA figures since his 2016 sparring session with Conor McGregor ahead of the Mayweather fight, questioned the premise of the project during an appearance on Ariel Helwani's show. Netflix produces quality content about fabricators and con artists, he suggested, and this one might be the studio's finest work in that category. MMA Mania carried his remarks.

What The Documentary Should Cover About White's Boston Days

The New Yorker wants to see an examination of White's career as a Tae Bo instructor before the Fertitta brothers brought him into UFC. Malignaggi also referenced stories he has heard about White's abrupt departure from Boston, saying the UFC boss reportedly left town after running afoul of certain street figures over debts or disputes. White has previously confirmed that associates of mobster Whitey Bulger pressured him for $3000 payments to keep his gym operating, which led to his move west.

Malignaggi doubted Netflix would explore those chapters. He mocked the possibility of learning whether White feared for his safety during the exit or how accomplished he became teaching boxercise classes. "I personally am curious," he said, adding that he expects manufactured content rather than substantive reporting.

White has discussed his Boston gym work and the Bulger connection in interviews, though his time leading Tae Bo sessions remains less documented. One old photograph shows White in workout gear leading what he has described as fitness classes for corporate clients. Netflix has not yet set a release date for the documentary.
