KSI Slams Tommy Fury Over Their Fight Negotiations – ‘Simply Being Difficult'
KSI has blamed Tommy Fury for the failure of the pair to agree to a boxing bout.
Following Fury’s split-decision win over Jake Paul, the former called out KSI as it became clear that the professional boxer was targeting the Youtube scene.
This has been part of the wider misfits movement which has captured the imagination of the boxing community, as boxing struggles to cope with the perception that big fights cannot be made.
And yet, this time around, it appears that the struggles have crossed over to the Youtube-boxing events.
KSI and Fury were reportedly set to fight at 180 lbs, which just touches the cruiserweight division.
Although Fury did allegedly agree to fight at 180 lbs, the tables have now turned with the boxer demanding a weight at 185 lbs.
In response, KSI has now issued a deadline of 6pm on 3rd July, 2023, to agree to the terms. If that cannot be done, then the star has poured cold water over the fight happening.
"I don’t think this fight is happening anymore. Tommy Fury is simply being difficult and making this four month negotiation an absolute chore.
"We agreed on all the terms, we agreed on paying you exactly what you asked for. We agreed on rounds and to fight at 180 with no rehydration clause. We agreed to fight in your home town, Manchester, you know, we agreed all of that," KSI
This should not come as a surprise since Fury’s negotiations with Jake Paul had shown the fighter found it tough to close a deal. Prior to fighting Paul, two fight dates were called off.
The first date was canceled due to Fury’s failure to secure a US visa as he was banned. Meanwhile, a rib injury caused Fury to pull out of the second one.
Not only that, but during the pre-fight build up for the Paul fight, Fury failed to turn up for the presser. And that did not go down well with Paul at the time.
"All the business people he screwed over, it’s disrespectful. There’s some of the biggest names in boxing, the biggest promoters and most influential people in the world.
"One of the greatest countries in the world and he doesn’t want to show up because of a ‘private matter’. We all have private matters," Paul said
