Khan Wants Joshua vs Fury At Wembley

London Mayor Sadiq Khan urged promoters to bring the Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua fight to Wembley Stadium after Saudi organisers Sela contacted his office about hosting the bout.

BBC Sport first reported that Sela reached out to the mayor's office in recent weeks, though negotiations have not advanced with detailed talks over dates or logistics. Netflix and organisers reportedly prefer Madison Square Garden in New York for a November card, according to sources close to the discussions.

Curfew Extension Would Need Approval

"A message to the promoters — we want to host it in London. Talk to us, we're really keen to have it," Khan told BBC Sport on Thursday. Wembley's standard curfew runs until 11 p.m., but Khan indicated he would support a later finish to capture peak American television hours. Brent Council said any extension would require assessment by Wembley's safety advisory group.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn said he signed a contract for a UK venue and has since laid out terms for a potential move to the United States. "Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are two great British boxers," Khan said. "We, the fans, want to see them box live in London." Hearn said he wants an announcement this week with a press conference to follow next week.

The contact from Sela marks a shift from late July when sources told BBC Sport no approach had been made. Khan said a London fight would draw 100,000 fans live and millions on broadcast. A venue decision is expected in the coming days.
