London Mayor Sadiq Khan has urged promoters to stage a potential Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua fight in Britain rather than overseas.

Khan made the appeal as speculation mounts over a long-discussed heavyweight showdown between the two British stars, per ESPN. The mayor wants the bout held on home soil instead of a lucrative foreign venue like Saudi Arabia, which has hosted several major cards in recent years.

Why Khan Wants Fury-Joshua In Britain

The fight would be one of the biggest in British boxing history. Fury, the former WBC champion, and Joshua, the former unified titlist, have circled each other for years without a deal materializing. Talks collapsed in 2021 and again in 2023 as both fighters pursued other opportunities.

Khan's pitch comes as both heavyweights look to rebuild following recent setbacks. Fury lost his unbeaten record to Oleksandr Usyk twice in 2024, while Joshua dropped a decision to Daniel Dubois in September.
