Keyshawn Davis Speaks Out After Locker Room Brawl – ‘I Was Wrong'

Keyshawn Davis has opened up about his recent behaviour, which saw him stripped of his WBO lightweight title, which was followed by a locker room brawl.

Davis missed weight for his Edwin De Los Santos fight, coming in at 139.3 pounds. The manner in which he failed weight suggested he never intended to make the weight cut. Davis had tried to negotiate a new weight with De Los Santos, so the fight could go ahead, but the latter pulled out. Abdullah Mason vs. Jeremia Nakathila headlined, as Mason won via a stoppage. However, Davis made things worse when he was thrown out of the venue.

He had been in attendance with his brother, Keon, as they were thrown out after they had an altercation with Nahir Albright, who had beaten Keyshawn’s brother Kelvin. Albright claimed that he had been jumped in the locker room. Had It not been for his trainer and cutman who deescalated things, the situation may have gotten out of hand. Keyshawn has remained largely silent over the matter, although there are suggestions he will move up to 140 pounds. Either way, Davis has now addressed the situation.

Keyshawn Reacts

"The situation [with Albright] messed me up so much it damn near took me two months to get back on live. I felt some type of way when the people was like I don’t really care ‘cause like that’s not true. After that situation had happened, I was really never right ever since and I had to start like leaning on my family and leaning on God’s word and leaning on the people that really love me because I was like just not myself.

"Just reflecting on that night, man, was super wrong, it wasn’t right for what I did. It wasn’t right at all. Me [not] making weight wasn’t right, it was a lot of stuff that week that was off camera that wasn’t right. I was snapping in fighter meetings and that wasn’t right and I apologize to the person I did snap in the fighter meeting.

"I really want ya’ll to genuinely know that I was super wrong for everything that happened, and I ain’t feel like it was right for me to wait a week and come back with an apology…I’m on live right now saying I messed up, but like I’m back though. I’m back, I’m better, I’m healthy…at the end of the day I shouldn’t have walked into his locker room but nobody got banged and nobody got touched. All that got blown out of proportion ‘cause that sh-t didn’t happen at all. Like, for real. So no love lost for the Philly boys," Davis said
