Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman believes Khamzat Chimaev is missing a crucial piece in his corner.
Usman told media that the undefeated middleweight contender needs a dedicated MMA head coach to reach the next level, according to Sherdog. Chimaev, who trains primarily with wrestling coaches and sparring partners, has relied on a more informal camp structure throughout his UFC run.

Why coaching structure matters for title contenders
The observation comes as Chimaev prepares for his next move in the 185-pound division. Usman, who held the welterweight title for nearly three years, knows what it takes to sustain championship-level performance.
Chimaev remains unbeaten at 14-0 with his last outing a dominant win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 in October. He has worked primarily out of Allstars Training Center in Sweden and the All Stars Gym in Stockholm, though his recent training camps have included stints in Abu Dhabi.
