Kabayel Confirms Hysa Fight After Pullout Claim

WBC heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel will defend his title against undefeated Nelson Hysa on November 28th at Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, according to multiple reports.

Hysa, who turned pro at 37 in 2022 and carries a 25-0 record with 23 knockouts, last fought on the Itauma-Hrgovic card last month where he stopped Thomas Narmo. After that win, he confronted Kabayel ringside before promoter Frank Warren said the Albanian had backed out of a planned meeting. The 50,000-capacity venue will host what appears to be Hysa's reward for sticking around — a title shot despite holding no ranking with the WBC.

Kabayel's First Defense Since January Win

Kabayel has not fought since stopping Damian Knyba in January and now sits at 27-0 with 19 knockouts. Bad Left Hook called the Hysa matchup a means to keep the German busy while Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley settle their rematch next month, which could set up a unification fight down the line. The bout also tests whether Kabayel can draw in his home country the way the Klitschko brothers once did.

Hysa has spent his four-year pro run touring Europe and stopping club-level opponents every few months under the Queensberry banner. The November date will mark Kabayel's first title defense as WBC champion.
