Julio Cesar Martinez has revealed that his ambition is to become undisputed at flyweight.
Martinez is the WBC flyweight champion. Meanwhile, the WBO title is held by Jesse Rodriguez. The latter will face the IBF champion Sunny Edwards for a unification, while Artem Dalakian holds the WBA title.
As of now, Martinez is targeting a bout with McWilliams Arroyo who is the WBC interim champion.

Their first fight in 2019 was declared a no contest after Arroyo was not able to continue due to an accidental headbutt. Not only that, but the fight had been canceled on two occasions prior to this.
On the first attempt in June last year, Martinez became ill after suffering food poising from some salmon. Meanwhile, the rescheduled bout in December saw Arroyo pull out due to an injury.
"An apology for what is happening, I don’t have things in my hands, I got a very strong infection. You don’t talk about things, you show them, and I thank God, my team and family who never leave me alone and I go for everything. With facts very soon they will know who is Rey and sorry my people, this is just beginning," Martinez said
But if Martinez is able to come through Arroyo, he has set his sights on taking over the division.
"I still want to be undisputed champion in the flyweight division. I have to win fights like this first in order to achieve that goal. I’m ready to prove that I’m the man to beat at flyweight.
"We have big goals but the first thing is to take care of business with Arroyo. This fight has been in my way for a long time, and we’re ready to put this [chapter] behind us. I just hope he’s ready as well because I’m ready to move on to the other champions after this," Martinez
If the fight does end up happening, the winner will have a major chance to unify the division. But history has shown that getting the two fighters in the ring has been harder than first thought.
