Jones Roasts Cormier After Khabib GOAT Pick
Jon Jones fired back at Daniel Cormier after his longtime rival crowned Khabib Nurmagomedov the UFC's greatest fighter over the reigning heavyweight champion.
Cormier raised eyebrows during an interview with ALF Global when asked about placing Nurmagomedov ahead of Jones in the GOAT conversation, per BJPenn.com. The former two-division champion pointed to Jones's lone disqualification loss as evidence of imperfection. "Jon Jones, for as good as he is, has one loss. Why? Because he made a mistake," Cormier said. "Khabib dominated and never made a mistake."
Jones Fires Back At Former Rival
Jones responded in an Instagram comment that questioned Cormier's motives. The heavyweight titleholder explained that the disqualification came early in his career when he was unfamiliar with certain rules. "I started in the UFC so early that I didn't even know what the rules were," Jones wrote, according to the report. He then accused Cormier of harboring jealousy that runs "so deep through your blood," adding that he would pray for the former champion to heal from his envy.
The rivalry between Jones and Cormier reignited after the two former champions coached opposite each other on a Russian version of The Ultimate Fighter. Jones recently claimed Cormier told him their feud was worth too much money to end, which Cormier denied in a YouTube video.
Cormier and Nurmagomedov entered the UFC Hall of Fame together in 2022. Jones is expected to join them after his retirement, which he announced in 2025.
