Jon Jones responds to Alex Pereira loss with GOAT necklace
Jon Jones used Alex Pereira's heavyweight debut loss to remind the world who he considers the greatest of all time.
Jones posted a video on Instagram wearing a necklace shaped like a GOAT — shorthand for greatest of all time — following Pereira's second-round TKO defeat to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday at the White House, per Sherdog. Pereira tried to capture a title in a third division but was stopped by Gane, who landed a sharp jab from the opening bell and hurt the Brazilian early in round two before finishing him on the feet.
Jones-UFC fallout intensifies after White House snub
The retired former champion has been feuding with the UFC since being left off the Freedom 250 card despite lobbying for a spot once the historic event was announced. UFC president Dana White said Jones was never considered for the White House show. Jones fired back, suggesting negotiations had taken place. White had previously stated he would consider Pereira the sport's GOAT if he beat Gane.
Gane, who lost to Jones in 2023, recently called "Bones" the greatest fighter ever. Jones retired last year but appeared ready to return for a spot on the landmark card before the promotion shut down those talks.
