Charles Johnson credits former Bellator champion Patrick Mix for teaching him the Scottish twister that earned him a bonus at UFC 330.

Johnson submitted Eduardo Henrique with the rare move at the Philadelphia card, weathering early pressure before catching his opponent during a scramble. The flyweight told reporters afterward that the submission was no accident.

Johnson Drills Twister Weekly In Practice

"I hit that at least once or twice a week on people in practice, so it's just about getting there," Johnson said, per Sherdog. "Patchy Mix actually showed me that move, so I'm gonna give him his flowers, man."

The Scottish twister is a variation of the standard twister submission and demands tight control of the opponent's waist and torso. Johnson showed a different side of his game with the finish, given his reputation as a striker.

Johnson improved to 20-9 with the win and has now fought four times in 2026. He holds a knockout victory over current flyweight champion Joshua Van, who defends the belt at the next numbered event.
