John Cena Stars In Apple TV’s “Matchbox The Movie”

John Cena headlines “Matchbox The Movie,” an action-comedy arriving on Apple TV worldwide on October 9.

Based on Mattel’s Matchbox toy line, it casts him as Sean, an undercover CIA agent who goes home and reconnects with his childhood friends, only to be pulled into a global chase full of spies, car pursuits and a race to save the world.

Cena, 49, left pro wrestling in December 2025 after 24 years with WWE and a record 17 world title reigns. He has since built out his Hollywood career, with credits including “The Suicide Squad,” “Fast X,” “Barbie” and the series “Peacemaker.” The film is the latest screen adaptation of a Mattel property, following the success of “Barbie” in July 2023.
