Jesse Rodriguez stops Antonio Vargas in sixth round, wins third division title
Jesse Rodriguez knocked out Antonio Vargas in the sixth round to claim a world championship in a third weight division.
Rodriguez, who goes by "Bam," dropped Vargas to improve his record to 24-0, per ESPN. The stoppage came in round six as Rodriguez added another belt to his collection after previous title runs at flyweight and super flyweight.
Rodriguez's ascent through three weight classes
The San Antonio native's move up in weight continues a rapid climb that has seen him capture hardware in three divisions before his 25th birthday. He previously held belts at 112 and 115 pounds before this latest conquest.
Rodriguez now holds wins across flyweight, super flyweight, and his current weight class. The victory over Vargas marks his 24th professional win without a loss.
No word yet on Rodriguez's next opponent or when he plans to return to the ring.
