Dustin Poirier arrest video shows former UFC star threaten officer
Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier challenged a police officer to fight and threatened to "bang you up" before his public intoxication arrest at Atlanta Airport in June, according to body cam footage obtained by TMZ Sports.
The video picks up after Poirier had been removed from a flight, with the Louisiana native confronting gate agents about being pulled off the plane. When the responding officer recognized him and asked if he was Dustin Poirier, the former title contender lashed out. "Man, f*ck you, bro," Poirier said, per the footage. "F*ck you, and f*ck her, and f*ck her."
Poirier assumes boxing stance, officer draws taser
As the officer attempted to calm the situation, Poirier dropped his backpack and squared up in a fighting stance. "I'll fight you right now," he said in the video. "I'll go with you right now. Let's go." The officer called for backup and drew his taser as Poirier continued to posture. "You gonna tase me, dog?" Poirier said. "I'm gonna bang you up."
Additional officers arrived and the confrontation defused. Poirier submitted to arrest and even tried to reconcile with the officer while handcuffed, telling him "You did a great job." He was booked into Clayton County Jail and bonded out hours later.
In Georgia, public drunkenness carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail or a $1,000 fine. Poirier has not publicly addressed the incident since the video surfaced Tuesday.
