Jamie Ward wins SJA 'One to Watch' award for boxing coverage
Jamie Ward won the Sports Journalists' Association 'One to Watch – Broadcast on Air' award at Monday night's ceremony at the London Palladium.
The 29-year-old Matchroom Boxing and DAZN presenter was recognised for his work across major fight announcements and his expanding digital presence. Ward has anchored press conferences for last year's two Chris Eubank Jr versus Conor Benn events and hosts this Saturday's Conah Walker–Sam Eggington card in Wolverhampton.
Ward credits Matchroom team for platform
The SJA panel singled out Ward's podcast Flash Knockdown and YouTube series Ordinary People as evidence of his ability to connect fans with fighters outside the ring. "Jamie was at the heart of boxing's biggest stories in 2025," the judges said, according to Matchroom Boxing, citing his Eubank–Benn coverage and a tribute he delivered for Ricky Hatton.
Ward thanked his production team and Matchroom bosses in his acceptance remarks. "I am so privileged to do the job I do," he said. "To share just one per cent of the special moments I have with fighters in post-fight interviews, from making their debut to becoming World Champion, is a responsibility I absolutely adore."
He singled out producer Jim Bentley and former IBF champion Darren Barker, along with Eddie Hearn, Frank Smith, and Katie Hearn, for their support. Ward joined Matchroom in 2019 and will be ringside for Saturday's DAZN broadcast from Wolverhampton.
