Jake Paul's Christmas Fight Loses Netflix Deal
Jake Paul's Christmas Eve boxing return will not air on Netflix, per a New York Post report, marking a break from the streaming platform that carried his fights against Mike Tyson and Anthony Joshua.
Paul announced plans to fight in Dubai on Dec. 24, with former UFC contender Darren Till reportedly the leading candidate as opponent. But the bout will need a new broadcast home after Netflix underwent a major restructuring that cut Paul's main ally inside the company.
Netflix Shakeup Ends Paul Partnership
Netflix head Ted Sarandos fired Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria and head of film Dan Lin following stalled growth reports, per MMA Mania. Bajaria had championed the Paul-Netflix relationship, which produced the massive Paul-Tyson event and this year's MVP MMA 1 featuring Ronda Rousey against Gina Carano. Her departure leaves Paul's Most Valuable Promotions without its key Netflix connection as the streamer restructures.
The Christmas fight still serves Paul's business interests despite losing Netflix distribution. The Dubai date reconnects him with Saudi Arabia's combat sports market after boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh used his influence to cancel a potential Paul-Canelo Alvarez fight in February 2025. Saudi Arabia continues seeking partners willing to stage events in the country despite ongoing conflicts with Yemen and Iran.
Paul last fought in December when Joshua broke his jaw and stopped him. No broadcast deal for the Christmas Eve card has been announced.
