Islam Dulatov dismisses film study for Wellington Turman fight

Islam Dulatov has no interest in breaking down film ahead of his welterweight bout with Wellington Turman at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25.

Dulatov, who earned his UFC contract through Dana White's Contender Series, told reporters he doesn't need to study his opponent to execute his game plan at Etihad Arena. "Not that much footage of him," Dulatov said, per Sherdog. "But he is the same person, he has the same chin, and he has the same style he had before. If he learned some stuff it's good for him. But at the end of the day, for what I want to do with him, I don't need to see footage. I just want to knock him out."

Dulatov targeting another first-round stoppage

The 27-year-old prospect has finished every one of his 12 wins, going past the opening frame only once since his lone loss in his 2019 debut. He knocked out Adam Fugitt in round one last year to open his UFC account. Dulatov joked that his preferred fight length won't change until the promotion adjusts its pay structure. "First round finish is the perfect performance for me," he added. "I don't like to fight too much. I don't get paid by minutes. If the UFC starts paying me for rounds, maybe I'll fight three rounds."

Dulatov, a former runway model who worked for Versace and Gucci, recently announced he will represent Turkey going forward despite being based in Germany. Turman enters the matchup on a three-fight skid and 3-6 overall in the UFC, making this a likely roster elimination bout for the Brazilian.
