Hunter Biden calls out Joe Rogan over UFC White House event
Hunter Biden has taken issue with UFC commentator Joe Rogan's enthusiastic response to the White House fight card held on the South Lawn earlier this month.
Rogan, who worked the broadcast for the event, has been celebrating the streaming numbers generated by the Paramount+ showing, per MMA Mania. The actual figures remain unverified, but the son of former president Joe Biden posted a lengthy message on social media arguing that the venue choice was the problem, not the sport itself.
Biden's objection to the White House as fight venue
"Dear Joe, I wish I could sit down with you face to face and explain why so many of us were offended by the UFC fight on the South Lawn of the White House," Biden wrote, according to the report. "For me, it had nothing to do with the UFC or who showed up for the fights." He said fighters who compete in the cage inspire him with their discipline, and that he enjoys comedian Shane Gillis, who attended the card.
Biden's core argument centered on what he described as treating public spaces as personal property. "To treat it as Caesar treated the Colosseum is antithetical to everything our founding fathers fought for," he said. "The fights were an exhibition of imperial domination, not a celebration of our 250th anniversary as a democracy." He added that the event could have taken place at any nearby stadium without controversy.
The post concluded with a challenge directed at Donald Trump Jr., proposing a cage match at any location except the South Lawn. Dana White told TIME before the card that he was spending his own money to celebrate America's 250th birthday, insisting the event was patriotic rather than political.
