Hrgovic Vs. Itauma Lined Up

Filip Hrgovic enters Saturday's fight against Dave Allen, knowing a win could put him in line for a matchup against Moses Itauma in August.

Itauma is expected to be ringside on Saturday to watch the fight unfold firsthand. Hrgovic arrives into the fight in decent form. Back-to-back wins over Joe Joyce and David Adeleye have rebuilt his momentum following his June 2024 loss to Daniel Dubois, a defeat that temporarily derailed what had been a steady climb through the division. He is 19-1 with fourteen knockouts and carries genuine punching power, but Allen — durable, experienced, and never easy to remove — presents a physical test.

Itauma's credentials have been building. The 21-year-old is ranked number one by both the WBA and WBO, number three by the WBC, and number five by the IBF. He stopped Dillian Whyte in one round and became the first man to stop Jermaine Franklin — a fighter who had previously gone the distance with Anthony Joshua.

A fight between Hrgovic and Itauma would test the prospect against a different kind of opponent. Hrgovic is a former world title challenger with amateur pedigree, genuine power, and the experience of having competed at the highest level. "Of course, I'll fight anyone but must win on Saturday, hopefully without injuries or cuts. Moses is, that date [August 8] is soon after my fight, we'll see what shape I will be after the fight. I must win, look good, be without injuries and we'll see but I'm definitely open to fight with anyone in the world.

"He still didn't receive one punch in his career. He didn't face any guys who fought back or who gave him hard rounds. It was just a walk in the park for him. He's fast, he's good, but we'll see how he'll be when he receives some punishment,” Hrgovic said
