Holloway Rips McGregor After UFC 329 Injury
Max Holloway believes Conor McGregor was a diminished fighter well before his knee buckled at UFC 329.
Holloway and McGregor met in their rematch in July, but the bout ended after barely a minute when McGregor's right knee gave out. McGregor has since blamed slippery canvas from dry ice used during his walkout. In a YouTube video uploaded this week, Holloway dismissed that explanation and said McGregor simply looked past his prime.
Holloway Questions McGregor's Physical Condition
"Him talking about this generational beating, dude is delusional," Holloway said, per BJ Penn. "To me, he felt slow in there. He felt slow. He looked old. If there was gonna be a generational beating, it wasn't gonna be on his end. I'll tell you that much. Had the man weak in the knees from the beginning, I guess."
McGregor is targeting a return in summer 2027 and has one fight remaining on his current UFC contract. The former two-division champion has insisted his next bout must be a trilogy with Holloway.
Holloway is unlikely to wait that long for his next outing. Some observers believe he could challenge for the UFC lightweight title based on his knockout win over current champion Justin Gaethje, though a rematch with Charles Oliveira also looms as a possibility.
