Hernandez Fires Back At Curtis After UFC Callout

Luis Hernandez plans to end Chris Curtis' career if the veteran follows through on his callout.

Hernandez submitted Sedriques Dumas in 57 seconds at UFC Vegas 121 on Saturday, earning a bonus in his promotional debut. The win came just 11 days after he secured a contract on Dana White's Contender Series, and he took the Dumas fight on two days' notice. Curtis, who has a history with Hernandez after storming the cage with Sean Strickland following a Tuff-N-Uff bout in June 2025, responded to the breakout performance with a video saying he would "fold this man up like a cheap suitcase."

Curtis Pursuing Fight With Undefeated Hernandez

Hernandez, a 30-year-old Miami-Dade Sheriff's deputy who improved to 9-0 as a pro, dismissed Curtis' 6-5-1 UFC record and his 40-plus career fights. "He's trying to get off my clout," Hernandez told MMA Fighting. "He's 39 years old; he's about to be retired. In my mind, he is retired." The middleweight rookie added: "I'm going to retire him and send him to an old person's home if he keeps messing around with me."

Hernandez said he was not surprised by the callout, noting that Curtis did not throw a punch during the Tuff-N-Uff cage-storming incident. "He didn't say anything then; now he has a grudge," Hernandez said. The undefeated fighter said he has patched things up with Strickland, who did throw punches that night, and they plan to train together and hit the shooting range next time Hernandez is in Vegas.

Hernandez said he wants to build his record first before accepting a Curtis fight, but when the matchup materializes, he expects to be the final opponent of Curtis' career.
