Hemetsberger Defends Title Friday With Perfect Record On Line
Stella Hemetsberger defends her ONE Women's Strawweight Muay Thai World Title with a perfect promotional record on the line Friday at ONE Fight Night 46 in Bangkok.
The 27-year-old Austrian carries a flawless 5-0 mark inside ONE Championship and a seven-fight winning streak into the main event against Natalia Diachkova, according to BJPenn.com. Hemetsberger beat Jackie Buntan twice in the past year to claim the strap, joining Stamp Fairtex and Janet Todd as the only three women to hold two-sport world titles in ONE history.
Hemetsberger Leans On Five-Round Experience
Both of Hemetsberger's title victories against Buntan went the full five rounds, grueling tests few first-time defending champions can claim. She has never been knocked out in her professional career. Diachkova bounced back from her only promotional loss with two straight wins, including a highlight stoppage of Fahsai Aor Yutthachai at ONE Friday Fights 152.
"Having won five rounds and never been knocked out once in any of my professional fights before gives me confidence. It shows my fighting heart and spirit," Hemetsberger said, per the report. "But that does not mean I take whatever awaits me lightly or with overconfidence. I would say I just have the right healthy amount of confidence as always."
Diachkova brings genuine power to the challenge, a threat Hemetsberger's camp at Phuket Fight Club has prepared for specifically. Hemetsberger said her mindset remains unchanged despite holding two belts, with her focus on giving her best performance. The Austrian called her motto "Always Hungry" heading into the title defense.
ONE Fight Night 46 airs live on Prime Video from Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, August 14.
