Hearn: Fury not tied to U.K. for Joshua clash, Zuffa locked out
Tyson Fury's signed contract for the Anthony Joshua superfight contains no requirement the bout take place in the U.K., creating potential complications as the heavyweight showdown firms up.
BoxingScene reports that while Joshua's deal explicitly mandates a British venue, Fury's agreement with Saudi financier Turki Alalshikh leaves the location unspecified. The contracts, which exist between Alalshikh's events planner Sela and each fighter, cover two tune-ups and the main event. Fury faces his next bout August 1 in Dublin, with Joshua set for July 25 against Kristian Prenga.
Zuffa Boxing excluded from promotional duties
Eddie Hearn told BoxingScene that both contracts name him and Frank Warren as promoters of record and bar Zuffa Boxing from any involvement. "I don't know what [Fury's contract] says about the venue," Hearn said. "I just know what ours says: That, exclusively, the fight must take place in the U.K."
Dana White claimed last week he would promote the bout and hinted at a venue outside Britain. Hearn speculates Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas could be a target, while two boxing officials said Alalshikh floated SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, home to the 2027 Super Bowl.
The wiggle room in Fury's agreement does not guarantee the fight leaves the U.K., but it sets up renegotiation before the bout can proceed. Alalshikh owns 60 per cent of Zuffa Boxing, which recently launched amid legal disputes with Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN over Ryan Garcia negotiations.
