Alexei Pergande accuses Ian Garry of lying about filming

Undefeated Professional Fighters League featherweight Alexei Pergande has denied Ian Garry's claim that he secretly filmed their sparring session without consent, according to Sherdog.

The dispute started after Pergande posted footage from a training session where he took down the UFC welterweight contender. Garry unfollowed Pergande on Instagram once the clip went viral. When asked by a fan about the unfollow, Garry said he cut ties because Pergande filmed him without permission and kept recording after being told to stop.

Pergande rejected the accusation in a TikTok video. The 8-0 featherweight said his fiancée filmed the session openly while standing next to Garry's wife, UFC middleweight Chris Curtis, and Garry's cameraman. "I didn't know the day would come when Ian Garry is lying about me... None of that was true," Pergande said. "She was right up on the cage next to the fence and she was filming freely. And not once did someone ask, 'Hey, can we not record this session?'"

Pergande suggested the controversy gained traction because Garry is preparing for a UFC welterweight title shot against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330 on Aug. 15 in Philadelphia. Garry holds a 17-1 record with his lone loss coming against Shavkat Rakhmonov, who is currently sidelined with an injury.

The Irishman wrote on social media that Pergande had been editing and reposting the same session footage for four years. Pergande denies those claims entirely.
