Garcia Joins WWE's Judgment Day

Ryan Garcia smashed a guitar over a musician's back on Monday Night Raw.

The WBC welterweight champion made a surprise appearance during the July 27 episode of WWE Raw, crashing an in-ring concert hosted by Joe Hendry and Danhausen. Garcia appeared friendly at first, then grabbed a guitar and drove it into Hendry's back, allowing Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh to ambush Danhausen while Garcia celebrated in the ring alongside The Judgment Day.

The connection between Garcia's WWE cameo and Zuffa Boxing is not incidental. TKO — the parent company that owns both the UFC and WWE — has been explicit about using WWE's global platform to drive attention toward its boxing operation. Dana White and WWE President Nick Khan are both involved in Zuffa Boxing's expansion, and Garcia is one of the marquee names.

Whether it goes further is unclear. Garcia's personality and profile fit the WWE crossover model. The fight itself carries enough weight on its own. Garcia, 26 and 25-1 with 20 knockdowns, is the WBC welterweight champion and one of boxing's most polarizing figures. Benn has built a large following in the UK and is positioned as the credible threat Garcia needs to take seriously.
