Johnny Garbarino throws cannoli at Mike Richman during BKFC presser
Johnny Garbarino threw a cannoli at Mike Richman during Wednesday's press conference ahead of their bare-knuckle fight at BKFC Liberty Brawl on Friday in Philadelphia.
The stunt came early in the presser, with a box of the Italian pastries placed in front of Garbarino on stage. MMA Fighting reports that Garbarino stood and hurled one at Richman, who is a former BKFC champion, before both fighters tried to rush each other while security intervened. Garbarino was removed from the stage but returned later, prompting another near-brawl.
Garbarino smuggled second cannoli for post-presser faceoff
When the press conference wrapped and the customary faceoff was scheduled, BKFC officials kept the two separated. Garbarino had hidden half a cannoli behind his back and threw it at Richman again, nearly hitting BKFC president David Feldman with the shrapnel, according to the report.
Richman has been one of the promotion's top fighters since transitioning from MMA. Garbarino is taking a step up in competition with the matchup, which sits as a featured bout on the card.
BKFC Liberty Brawl is headlined by Austin Trout defending his lightweight title against Ben Bonner. The event takes place Friday night in Philadelphia.
