Fury Says McGregor Copied His Trash Talk Style
Tyson Fury claims Conor McGregor borrowed his blueprint for selling fights.
The heavyweight boxer told ALF Global that McGregor replicated his approach to verbal warfare during the Irishman's rise to stardom, per MMA Fighting. "I taught him," Fury said. "He copied me. He copied my style."

Both fighters won world titles in 2015, with Fury dethroning Wladimir Klitschko while McGregor stopped Jose Aldo in 13 seconds. The former described his own promotional work as essential entertainment rather than psychological tactics. "I've been talking from the beginning. A long time. I don't do it to get in their heads. Boxing is a show business," he said, according to MMA Fighting.
Fury noted a key difference in how far each man goes during fight build-ups. McGregor has targeted opponents' families, including wives of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier, while Fury maintains a personal boundary. "I never talk about the fighter's family, wife, children, anybody," he told the outlet. "I can take the piss out of a fighter, but never the family."
The boxer framed his microphone work as strictly professional rather than personal, calling it part of the circus that keeps pay-per-view buyers engaged. If a world championship existed for verbal promotion, Fury said, he would hold the undisputed crown.
Neither fighter has publicly discussed a crossover bout, though both have explored opportunities outside their primary sports in recent years.
