Fury vs Joshua at Wembley hinges on curfew lift for ring walks
The proposed Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua heavyweight showdown faces a scheduling problem that could push the fight out of London entirely.
Organizers need Wembley Stadium's 11pm curfew lifted to accommodate a 1am local ring walk time, Bad Left Hook reports. That translates to an 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific broadcast slot for American viewers, a window promoter Turki Alalshikh considers essential for maximizing the global streaming audience on DAZN or another platform.
London mayor supports bout but curfew ban unclear
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has voiced support for hosting the fight in the capital, but Alalshikh says he's been told the later start "is not possible," per Sky Sports. Further talks are planned to convince city officials to grant a one-night exception for the event.
If Wembley falls through, the United States has been floated as an alternative site. Even then, organizers would likely aim for an 8pm Eastern start to capture peak UK viewership, an unusual concession for a major American boxing card where main events often begin near midnight local time.
The clearest fallback remains Saudi Arabia, where Alalshikh can set any start time without municipal approval. Both fighters are taking July tune-ups first: Joshua meets Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Riyadh, while Fury faces Mariusz Wach a day earlier in Thailand.
