Fury On Joshua Fight: 'Doesn't Look Like It's Going To Happen'

Tyson Fury says his November showdown with Anthony Joshua may not happen after all.
The WBC heavyweight posted to Instagram that the bout "doesn't look like it's going to happen," blaming Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn for demanding more money, according to BBC Sport. Joshua and Hearn have signed for a UK staging, but Saudi organisers Sela — now backed by TKO and Zuffa Boxing — are pushing for Madison Square Garden in New York so the Netflix broadcast can reach American audiences.

Hearn Sends List Of Changes To Saudi Organisers
Hearn told IFL TV on Thursday that his team has sent a list of required changes to Sela. The main sticking point, he said, is compensation: fighting in America would leave Joshua with less money than a UK bout because of different tax structures. "In layman's terms, by staging the fight in America, Anthony Joshua receives less money than he would do if the fight was in the UK where he was contractually agreed," Hearn said, per the BBC.
Fury responded by calling Joshua and Hearn "disgusting" and "money-thirsty" in a series of posts. He also said he would move on and fight someone else. The situation has grown more tangled with the arrival of Dana White's Zuffa Boxing, a joint venture between Sela and TKO. Hearn has criticised the American push, saying TKO and Zuffa convinced Saudi backers the fight would play well stateside.

Fury appeared open to White's involvement. He posted that White could join his side of the negotiating table. Hearn said he has not heard from Sela for three or four days and is still waiting for feedback on the addendum. He also confirmed Matchroom held a separate meeting with Sela over money owed from previous contracts, including events in darts and snooker, though he said those issues were unrelated to the Joshua fight.
The fight had been expected to take place in November. No new timeline has been confirmed.
