Fury vs Joshua contract allows foreign venue, Hearn bars Zuffa
Tyson Fury's signed contract to face Anthony Joshua contains no requirement that the heavyweight clash take place in the U.K., according to BoxingScene.
The absence of a venue clause in Fury's deal does not mean the fight will skip Britain for an NFL stadium stateside, but it leaves room for renegotiation before the bout firms up. Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn told BoxingScene that Joshua's contract stipulates the opposite. "I don't know what [Fury's contract] says about the venue," Hearn said. "I just know what ours says: That, exclusively, the fight must take place in the U.K."
Hearn confirms Zuffa Boxing locked out of Joshua-Fury
Hearn clarified that both fighters have signed separate agreements with Saudi financier Turki Alalshikh and events planner Sela. Fury's deal covers two tune-ups, the next set for August 1 in Dublin, then the Joshua bout. Joshua's includes a July 25 date against Kristian Prenga before the Fury showdown. Both contracts name Hearn and Frank Warren as promoters of record and explicitly bar Zuffa Boxing from any involvement, despite UFC president Dana White claiming last week he would promote the fight.
Alalshikh owns 60 per cent of Zuffa Boxing. White hinted the bout might leave the U.K., with Hearn speculating Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium could be a target. Two boxing officials told BoxingScene that Alalshikh floated SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, site of the 2027 Super Bowl, as another option in play.
The Joshua-Fury contracts exist as individual deals with differing terms, according to Hearn. Joshua's next outing is July 25, Fury's August 1.
