Frank Warren downplays Tyson Fury Zuffa Boxing rumors
Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren says Tyson Fury has not signed with Zuffa Boxing and that his working relationship with the former heavyweight champion continues unchanged.
Fury sparked speculation last week when he announced Turki Alalshikh as the promoter for the remainder of his career, a move that appeared to signal a shift given Alalshikh's majority stake in Zuffa. But Warren told talkSPORT Boxing that Fury remains under their existing agreement and dismissed the idea that he has been cut out.
Warren says Fury arrangement 'works really well'
"Tyson hasn't signed for anybody," Warren said, per Bad Left Hook. "At the moment in time, where we're at now, I have my arrangement with him which I'm very, very comfortable with and we have a business relationship which has worked really well and continues to work well."
When pressed on Fury's public statement naming Alalshikh, Warren clarified that the reference was to fight funding rather than a formal promotional switch. "What he's talking about is the last few fights have been promoted by — that's where the money's come from to promote the shows," he said. "Nothing's changed."
Warren also said he was unsurprised to see Fury photographed alongside UFC president Dana White, noting only that Fury had secured his visa. The promoter added that Zuffa's entry into boxing has been "interesting" but hardly seismic so far, saying the outfit has staged "some decent little shows" without breaking down any doors.
Fury is expected to take an interim bout before facing Anthony Joshua later this year, though Warren said no final arrangements have been made and the details will depend on location.
