Floyd Mayweather sued for $6.65M over Greece fight deal
Floyd Mayweather faces a $6.65 million lawsuit from the producer of his planned Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao bouts, with the company seeking an emergency court order to stop his June 27 fight in Greece.
CSI Sports Events filed the breach-of-contract suit in the Southern District of New York on Thursday, alleging that Mayweather violated exclusive agreements when he signed to fight Mike Zambidis next weekend, according to ESPN. The complaint claims CSI holds the rights to produce Mayweather's exhibition against Tyson and a separate professional match with Pacquiao scheduled for later this year. A hearing on CSI's application for a temporary restraining order is set for Monday afternoon, with the company's attorneys noting that Mayweather was scheduled to depart for Greece on Friday.
Competing deals create exclusivity conflict
The lawsuit details a web of overlapping contracts dating back to August, when CSI and Frist Apex Ventures allegedly agreed to terms for a Tyson-Mayweather fight slated for spring 2026. CSI claims it offered Mayweather $14 million for that bout, including a $2 million advance. A separate November agreement reportedly gave CSI exclusive rights to Mayweather's next fight after Tyson, with a $35 million purse if Pacquiao was the opponent and a $50 million buyout if the fight aired off pay-per-view. The suit alleges Mayweather simultaneously entered a December deal with EverWonder for the Pacquiao fight on Netflix worth $24.75 million, complicating CSI's claims to exclusivity. CSI attorney Judd Burstein told the court his client was prepared to resolve the overlap by allowing the Netflix-Pacquiao fight to proceed in the fall at the Sphere, with CSI retaining billing rights and exclusive control of Mayweather's subsequent bout.
That arrangement collapsed, according to the filing, when Mayweather announced the Zambidis fight despite CSI never agreeing to release him for an interim bout. The complaint claims Mayweather requested and received $150,000 in cash from CSI for medical testing related to the Tyson fight, signing a receipt the day before publicly confirming the Greece match. Tyson's May hand injury postponed the scheduled May 30 fight, but CSI argues the contract's six-month rescheduling window still bars Mayweather from taking another fight before facing Tyson. Mayweather attempted to terminate his CSI contract on June 9, the suit claims, after he had already breached its terms.
The case adds to Mayweather's mounting legal troubles, which include two felony charges in Las Vegas over an allegedly bad check for a $200,000 watch, civil suits in four states, and a $7.2 million IRS lien for unpaid taxes. As a plaintiff, Mayweather is suing Showtime for $340 million and Frist Apex for $175 million in separate fraud cases. Messages left with Mayweather's representation were not returned to ESPN. The Zambidis fight remains scheduled for next Friday pending the court's ruling on the injunction.
