Ferreira Wants A War With Quarantillo At UFC Vegas 120

Diego Ferreira expects a three-round battle when he faces Billy Quarantillo in Saturday's UFC Vegas 120 co-main event.

The 41-year-old Brazilian returns after nearly a year out of the cage, taking on Quarantillo in what shapes as a must-win lightweight clash for both men. Ferreira told Just Scrap Radio on BJPenn.com that his previous outing suffered from a rushed training camp during a cross-state move, but he's settled in Dallas now and locked in on the fight ahead.

Ferreira Predicts Lightweight Debut Test For Quarantillo

Quarantillo moves up from featherweight for the bout, and Ferreira believes his natural size and strength at 155 pounds will show. The Brazilian dismissed any talk of job security hanging over the result, saying he's focused on performance rather than roster pressure. He expects both men to meet in the pocket from the opening bell.

"What I've seen from him is that he's a durable guy," Ferreira said, per BJPenn.com. "He throws a lot of punches. I see this fight going all three rounds, and I like those types of fights, a war. We both come forward. He won't be running around; we are going to meet up in the middle and put on a good show for the UFC."

Ferreira added that he wants the full fifteen minutes to test himself and adapt as the fight develops. A win would position him for veteran matchups against the likes of Bobby Green or Jim Miller, though the Brazilian said he's taking it one fight at a time as he approaches his 42nd birthday. He's targeting at least one more appearance before the year ends.
