Ferguson Defends Misfits Title With Second-Round TKO
Tony Ferguson retained his Misfits Boxing middleweight title with a second-round stoppage of Mahmood Sebie in Miami on Saturday.
Ferguson, who was originally scheduled to face former soccer player Kenzo Biyong, instead fought Sebie after the original opponent withdrew days before the event at the James L. Knight Center, according to MMA Fighting. Sebie, a former Olympic wrestler and MMA fighter, stepped in on short notice but offered little resistance.
Ferguson Weathered Early Scare Before Second-Round Finish
The former UFC interim lightweight champion controlled the opening round with his jab and pressure, dropping Sebie with a right hand late in the first. Sebie beat the count and briefly hurt Ferguson early in the second, but Ferguson trapped him on the ropes and landed a sustained barrage until the referee stopped the contest 30 seconds into the round.
After the fight, Ferguson addressed his performance and revealed he had been grieving the recent loss of his mother. "I was in the back, still dazed. It was kind of like in a dream state, trying to figure everything out. Literally, I lost my mom a couple of months ago, so I'm just battling through everything I possibly can right now," he said, per MMA Fighting.
Ferguson improved to 3-0 as a boxer and has now won back-to-back Misfits bouts since capturing the middleweight title by stopping Salt Papi in August 2025. Austin McBroom entered the ring after the finish to call out Ferguson for a title fight.
