FBI Puts 300 Agents Through UFC Combat Training

The FBI spent part of this week learning how to fight — with some help from the UFC's best.

Ahead of UFC Freedom 250 on the White House grounds this weekend, the bureau put roughly 300 agents through hand-to-hand combat training in collaboration with the organisation.

The bureau's Rapid Response team posted their own videos from the sessions. Justin Gaethje was also spotted using FBI headquarters as a training base during his final preparations for the biggest fight of his career.

The White House lawn as a fight venue was already the most politically visible event the organisation has staged. Adding FBI combat training to the fight week schedule gives the collaboration a texture that goes beyond optics. The bureau has a practical interest in what happens on Sunday — 300 agents who are better prepared for physical confrontations is a benefit.

Gaethje, 37, arrives at UFC Freedom 250 as the underdog against an unbeaten champion who has stopped three consecutive former titleholders. He has spoken openly about this being among his final opportunities to claim the undisputed belt, having fallen short in previous attempts against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira.
