Fans Slam Jaron Ennis' Four-Man Hit List – ‘How Many Tune-ups?'
Fans have reacted to the list of four names that Jaron Ennis has sent offers to for his next fight, resulting in a strong reaction.
Ennis recently confirmed his decision to move up to 154 pounds, having unified at 147 in his last fight by stopping Eimantas Stanionis. There was an expectation that Ennis would chase undisputed, but reports stressed he could not perform at his optimum level by staying at 147. Naturally, the attention turned towards who he would face at 154.
Eddie Hearn had suggested that a fight with the WBC Interim Junior Middleweight Champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. could come about. They were previously in talks for a fight, only for talks to break down after differences over the weight class. Ortiz is now being linked with a fight against Keith Thurman in October, ruling that fight out for now, as Ennis’ team have sent out other offers.

Rashidi Ellis, with a respectable record of 27-1, 18 KOs, is a solid welterweight. However, Ennis’ move to the junior middleweight division is meant to acclimate him to the new weight class. Fighting a welterweight, even one with a decent record, completely defeats the purpose. Ellis’ recent victories have come against "low-level opposition" since his loss to Roiman Villa in 2023.

Charles Conwell (27-1, 16 KOs) is coming off a loss to Jorge Garcia. While it was a split decision loss, Conwell has not faced any elite-level names, making Ennis a heavy favorite in such a match-up. However, he has boxed four times since last year, showing that he is a very active fighters, who may well give Ennis some problems.

Josh Kelly’s team has rejected an initial offer for the Ennis fight. Eddie Hearn claimed that Kelly wanted "Riyadh Season money," while Kelly’s team has stated they are open to better offers. This fight could be for a WBO title eliminator, making it a pragmatic fight.

Andreas Katzourakis has an undefeated record of 16-0. He recently secured a win over Brandon Adames, but once again, the victories on his resume are not against the big names. Ennis could target the likes of Tim Tszyu or Jermell Charlo, who are big names coming off losses. However, with Ennis having his first fight at 154, he may go for a perceived ‘safer’ option.
