Fans Predict Shakur Stevenson Vs. William Zepeda – ‘He Stops Him'
Shakur Stevenson defends his WBC Lightweight Title against William Zepeda, as boxing fans gave their predictions for the fight.
Stevenson makes the second defense of his title, which he acquired after defeating Edwin De Los Santos. Victories over Artem Harutyunyan and Josh Padley took Shakur’s undefeated record to 23-0, with 11 knockouts to his name. While Shakur continued racking up wins, his style has come under fire. Shakur is not the biggest puncher, although this could be due to his hand issues.
Shakur is up against a knockout artist, which may bring the best out of him. Zepeda is the mandatory challenger, with a 31-0 record. He has big punching power and volume, with 27 knockouts to his name. Zepeda defeated Tevin Farmer in his last fight, knowing a win propels his career to a whole new level. This is how boxing fans saw the fight playing out.
Pre-Fight
"He can’t do nothing different. He’s coming in there to throw as many punches as possible, overwhelm me, make me tired and try to bully me, and I’m not going to let that happen. I don’t believe that bulls—t he’s talking about," Shakur
"I can’t leave this in judges’ hands” to which Stevenson offered: “I’m going to go out there and do what I do best — win — but in spectacular fashion. I’m not going to give you a prediction on the stoppage but I’m coming out there to whip his a—," Zepeda
"You’re gonna see the best Shakur Stevenson against the best opposition. People with outstanding talent and ring IQ always perform better against better opposition. I don’t think anybody can beat him, [Gervonta Davis] included. Nobody at 135. I’ve also never met anyone with a work ethic like Shakur Stevenson. He lives in the gym," Eddie Hearn stated
"I’ve been seeing Shakur Stevenson’s close friends. And he’s been posting some sh-t. So Shakur’s ready. I think Shakur’s going to knock Zepeda out," Keyshawn Davis said
