Erdogan Predicts Second-Round Finish Of Elliott At ONE 48

Shamil Erdogan has mapped out exactly how his undefeated record stays intact Friday night in Bangkok.

The 13-0 Turkish heavyweight meets Paul Elliott in the ONE Fight Night 48 main event at Lumpinee Stadium, according to BJPENN.com, and Erdogan expects to break the Englishman down over two rounds. His plan centers on grappling — an area he believes Elliott cannot match him.

Erdogan Plans Grappling-Heavy Attack

"As far as I know, his wrestling isn't that strong. And as we all know, I am very good at that, and I'll try to neutralize his strengths to beat him," Erdogan said, per BJPENN.com. "I'm predicting that this fight will end in the second round. In the first round, I'll drag him into deep water, and in the second round I'll try to finish him."

Erdogan moved up from middleweight after stopping Aung La N Sang twice. He finished Ryugo Takeuchi with first-round ground strikes at ONE 173 in Tokyo. Elliott stopped Takeuchi in three rounds and owns a six-second head kick knockout of Regan Upshaw.

The 36-year-old trains out of Kremost Fight Club and Tiger Muay Thai. With ONE's heavyweight belt vacant, a finish of Elliott would put Erdogan in position to claim the strap he calls the biggest prize in the sport.
