Dubois Calls Baumgardner A Coward After Heated Clash

Caroline Dubois labeled Alycia Baumgardner a coward for skipping her post-fight press conference, escalating a feud that could produce the biggest fight in women's boxing.

The British lightweight champion confronted Baumgardner at ringside moments after beating Amelia Moore by unanimous decision in Birmingham on August 30, per Sky Sports. The American, who had criticized Dubois' performance as lacklustre from her seat, engaged in a heated exchange at the ropes before leaving the venue without attending the media session.

Dubois Questions Baumgardner's Absence From Press Conference

Dubois did not hold back when asked about the no-show. "I'm surprised she isn't there. I think she's a coward," she said, according to Sky Sports. "I wish she was here so I could say it to her face. This is the biggest fight in women's boxing." The 25-year-old IBO lightweight titleholder also pointed to Baumgardner's failure to secure bouts against Katie Taylor or Claressa Shields, insisting she was already better than the former undisputed champion.

Baumgardner is scheduled to challenge Elif Nur Turhan for the IBF lightweight belt on November 8, moving up to Dubois' division. MVP co-founder Jake Paul told Sky Sports his promotion is ready to make the fight when both sides sign contracts, dismissing talk that either woman is scared. Dubois mentioned WBA champion Stephanie Han as another option, recalling a promise Han made after defeating Holly Holm earlier this year.

The British southpaw warned against overlooking Turhan in November, noting the fight with Baumgardner only happens if the American wins.
