Din Thomas Urges Chandler To Retire

Din Thomas does not want to see Michael Chandler fight again.

Thomas believes Chandler has reached the point where the most dignified path forward is the exit.

"Nah, I think he's got to make a decision on how he just wants to bow out gracefully. I think this comes down to him just trying to find a way to bow out gracefully and just, 'Hey guys, I did the best I could, it wasn't enough.' And that's a condition of reality — no one is promised anything. Hard work doesn't promise you success, belief in yourself doesn't promise you success, and he's a classic case of it,” Thomas

Thomas was not dismissing what Chandler built. The three-time Bellator lightweight champion was legitimate for a long time — a relentless pressure fighter with knockout power and the kind of toughness that made him impossible to ignore.

Chandler’s UFC debut against Dan Hooker in 2021 was one of the best fights in recent memory. He had moments against Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje that reminded everyone what he was capable of.

Chandler is 40 years old and has not won a fight since 2022. The losing streak has extended across a period when the lightweight division has only gotten deeper and more dangerous.

"At one point he was a very talented fighter. But it passed him up, and he's got to accept that and just be able to bow out gracefully,” Thomas
