Jose Delgado has no regrets about his first UFC main event, even after tapping to a rear-naked choke.

The featherweight dropped Jean Silva in the opening round at Noche UFC 4 on Sept. 12 in Glendale, Arizona, but the Brazilian recovered and finished the fight with a one-arm choke in the third period. Delgado entered as a heavy underdog and absorbed his first loss in the promotion, falling to 12-3.

Delgado Thanks Glendale Crowd After Submission Defeat

Writing on Instagram after the loss, Delgado said he relished the experience of competing at the highest level in front of a home crowd. "Dared to be great yesterday and came up short," he wrote, per Sherdog. "But man I loved every second of being on that stage with high level opposition, that includes the heartbreaking pain of failure."

Silva survived an early knockdown from a clean cross-hook combination and turned the fight in the second round as Delgado struggled to find his range. The finish came in the third when Silva locked in the choke to improve to 18-3.

Delgado thanked the crowd at Desert Diamond Arena for making his walkout memorable and said he plans to bounce back from the setback.
