Till Reveals Why MMA Return Still On Table
Darren Till has not closed the door on mixed martial arts.
The 33-year-old former UFC welterweight title challenger told MMA Junkie he is considering another run in MMA despite fighting through torn ligaments in both knees. Till, who faces Yoel Romero at BKFC 94 next month in Manchester, said his 2023 departure from the UFC came down to physical damage rather than a lack of competitive drive.
Body Trauma Forced UFC Exit
"I actually don't think I'm done," Till said, per MMA Junkie. "People don't realize the severe trauma my body was actually in at that point. I wasn't really filled out as a middleweight. I wasn't of the size, and there was just trauma to my knees. I've had doctors look at it, and they don't even think I should be fighting."
Till carries a 19-4 MMA record and exited the UFC following a close loss to current middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis. The Liverpool native said fans have questioned why he walked away after nearly defeating a fighter who later captured gold. He cited torn ACL and MCL damage in separate knees that remains unaddressed.
Till has since competed in boxing and bare-knuckle formats. His clash with Romero at BKFC 94 marks his next outing in combat sports.
