Dana White vows UFC White House card will happen 'no matter what'
UFC CEO Dana White said the promotion's White House South Lawn card will go ahead this Sunday regardless of weather conditions or ongoing legal issues.
White told reporters Friday at a pre-fight press conference in Washington that UFC Freedom 250 remains on schedule despite forecasts calling for potential rain and federal lawsuits challenging the event's viability. The promotion has reportedly invested $60 million into staging the outdoor spectacle, according to MMA Mania.
White dismisses weather and lawsuit concerns
"Listen, the show goes on on Sunday. No matter what happens we're going," White said at the Lincoln Memorial presser. "I don't care if it rains, snows, whatever happens. We have a fight on Sunday."
The CEO added that he was done fielding questions about logistical hurdles. "I'm sick and tired of hearing about the weather now and all the other stuff surrounding this event," he said. "We are fighting on Sunday night on the White House lawn. No matter what!"
The promotion has constructed a massive canopy structure dubbed "the Claw" to cover the octagon on the South Lawn. Alexander Volkanovski and Justin Gaethje headline the card, with early weigh-ins already completed Friday.
UFC Freedom 250 airs Sunday night on CBS, with the main card scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.
