Dana White Predicts Super Bowl Numbers For UFC Freedom 250

Dana White is expecting big things for UFC Freedom 250.

The event takes place on Sunday on the White House lawn, headlined by a lightweight title unification bout between champion Ilia Topuria and interim champion Justin Gaethje. The co-main event features Ciryl Gane and Alex Pereira meeting for the interim heavyweight title. White believes the audience will reflect the big fights.

"For UFC fans all over the world, this is a unique experience for everybody. We're expecting Super Bowl-type numbers for this fight,” White

Super Bowl viewership routinely clears 100 million in the United States alone. The UFC's biggest events have historically drawn a fraction of that figure. However, White did not stop at predictions.

He used the occasion to take aim at the awards industry, framing the UFC's production team as a group long denied the recognition they have earned. The Sphere event, which the organisation produced last year to widespread acclaim, was his reference point.

"I said the Sphere should have won every award there is in production — it did not. Which doesn't surprise me: Very political. If we don't win every production award for the White House fight, they should stop doing production awards,” White added

The fights themselves carry genuine weight. Topuria vs Gaethje is a legitimate championship contest between two of the most dangerous finishers at lightweight. Topuria is unbeaten and has not been seriously troubled since moving to MMA. Gaethje has never stopped being dangerous, even as the wins and losses have complicated his standing at the top of the division.

Pereira and Gane is harder to read cleanly. Pereira has defied expectations consistently enough that questioning him has started to feel like a habit that keeps getting punished.

Gane is technically the most complete heavyweight the UFC has produced in years, and his team has spent months preparing specifically for this fight. The interim belt means the winner enters the conversation around Tom Aspinall's status at the top of the division. Now, the question is whether the card can deliver.
