Dakota Ditcheva slams Ronda Rousey for mocking Khamzat Chimaev
PFL flyweight champion Dakota Ditcheva has publicly criticized Ronda Rousey for mocking Khamzat Chimaev's cleft palate. According to Sherdog, Ditcheva posted on social media that Rousey's comment was "absolutely disgraceful" and announced she is no longer a fan of the former UFC champion.
Ditcheva, who has previously cited Rousey as a role model, took issue with the Hall of Famer making light of a physical condition that affects many children. "As a mother, you should know better," she wrote, per the report. "The amount of young children navigating difficulties like that while you sit on a worldwide stage mocking it. Do better."
Ditcheva distances herself from former role model
The undefeated PFL champion later clarified her position in a follow-up post, reportedly explaining that Rousey had been an inspiration to her as a young fighter in ways that other controversial figures in the sport had not. She drew a distinction between fighters she admires for their cage skills versus those she has looked up to as role models.
Ditcheva's comments come as Chimaev continues to face scrutiny following his loss to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 328. The PFL champion's next title defense has not been announced.
