Czaban Predicts Second-Round Finish Despite Souza's Edge
Magdalena Czaban will not let her opponent's experience reach the scorecards.
The unbeaten Polish atomweight meets Vick Souza in women's atomweight MMA at ONE Fight Night 49 on Friday, November 6, per a BJ Penn.com report. The card airs live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Czaban Chases Performance Bonus After Decision Win
Czaban carries a perfect 5-0 record into the bout, though her promotional debut against Natalie Salcedo at ONE Fight Night 46 in August went the distance for the first time in her career. Souza brings four ONE victories, including a recent decision over Ayaka Miura and a guillotine finish of Itsuki Hirata that lasted 91 seconds. The Brazilian's seven-fight promotional run gives her a clear edge in reading judges, according to Czaban. "I think [she has] seven fights in ONE already. She's really experienced, and I think that's a really big plus for her," the CTRL Fight representative said. "She can lead the fight in the way that judges will score for her."
Czaban plans to short-circuit that advantage entirely. The 27-year-old told the outlet she expects the fight to end in the second round, though she declined to specify the method. She wants the finish loud enough to earn a $50,000 performance bonus.
The winner stays in the hunt at atomweight. Czaban has finished four of her five opponents and moves between striking and wrestling without hesitation. Souza stopped Hirata inside two minutes at ONE 167 and outworked Miura over three rounds at ONE Fight Night 45 in July.
