Crawford Isn't Interested In Mayweather’s Undefeated Record

Terence Crawford has no plans on beating Floyd Mayweather’s undefeated record.

‘TBE’ is regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, having gone undefeated throughout his career. And in the process of doing so, Mayweather became a five-division champion which included 15 world title fight wins.

Mayweather’s biggest win came when he beat his arch rival Manny Pacquiao via a unanimous decision.

But it was not just the wins that were impressive. Mayweather became the most lucrative fighter in the sport of boxing, with reports that he is now a billionaire.

Meanwhile, Crawford is currently undefeated with 39 wins and 30 KOs. That has seen Crawford become undisputed at lightweight.

However, ‘Bud’ faces the biggest test of his career when he takes on Errol Spence Jr. on July 29th, 2023.

The winner will become the first undisputed welterweight champion of the four-belt era. And if Crawford manages to do that, his undefeated record would remain intact.

And yet, that is something that is not bothering the WBO welterweight champion.

"Nah, I ain’t ever thought of [reaching] 50-0. That’s Mayweather thing. That’s his record. I commend him. He can have that…It’d have to be Mayweather, [the greatest]. Everything.

"Not just cuz of the record—fighting style, everything that surrounds ‘Money’ Mayweather. It would have to be Mayweather," Crawford

Nevertheless, Crawford has achieved something that Mayweather had not managed to do. His accomplishment of undisputed at 140 lbs is something that Mayweather failed to accomplish in any weight class.

And on top of that, Crawford could arguably become undisputed in three weight divisions. With the junior welterweight division out of the way, undisputed at welterweight and junior middleweight is possible.

"I will be the first male boxer to [win undisputed titles] in two divisions and that would solidify me as the greatest fighter of this era," Crawford stated

Regardless of what you may think about Crawford, there is no denying that he is one of the best fighters at this moment. The star has been near the top of the pound-for-pound rankings.

But the question remaining is can he become the greatest of his era? Time will tell.
